Virtualization
Safely optimize your virtual infrastructure, while never compromising your SLAs and guaranteeing compliance with your IT policies.
The ability to identify the required target resources and optimize workloads allocation is essential to safely virtualize IT infrastructures. Except for small and simple environments, a manual approach is inadequate. It is a labor-intensive procedure that does not scale to hundreds or thousands of systems and cannot handle complex (technical, business and compliancy) policies. Manual approaches also lead to sub-optimal allocations and larger-than-required infrastructures.
Caplan for Consolidation and Virtualization
Caplan for Consolidation and Virtualization allows users to right-size physical and virtual infrastructure to minimize risks and to avoid over-provisioning and server sprawl. Caplan capabilities for simulating consolidation and virtualization (P2P, P2V and V2V) scenarios are based on (patent-pending) optimal allocation algorithms. Caplan provides specific workflow-oriented web interface, Consolidation Dashboard, to guide users to easily generate, save and compare virtualization scenarios by following a step-by-step workflow.
Caplan provides:
- Support for all major virtualization technologies: VMware ESX Server and vSphere, Citrix Xen Server, Microsoft Hyper-V, IBM LPARs / WPARs, Solaris Zones / Containers and HP Virtual Server Environment
- Ability to identify systems and workloads that are best suited as virtualization candidates
- Ability to identify required resources for a target virtual infrastructure (either already existing or to be designed)
- Ability to include as either candidates or targets also resources and workload that are planned to be deployed, possibly leveraging automatically generated templates (e.g. typical memory utilization for business-critical Application Servers or forecasted e-commerce application workloads)
- Ability to simulate optimal allocation, by taking into account workload compatibility and additional constraint such as technical, business and compliancy policies
