CMG Conference ‘09, Dallas, December 6-11, 2009

US CMG Conference is a must-attend event that offers the systems performance and capacity planning community a full week of comprehensive training by industry-recognized experts as well as IT professionals. This conference gives attendees a chance to interface with presenters in a variety of venues including workshops, “how-to” tutorials, and informal networking, as well as user-experience and problem-solving presentation sessions.

1. “Predicting SPEC Benchmarks Values for Untested Systems”

The session describes how to scale down or up a SPEC result in order to account for different numbers of processors with respect to the benchmarked configuration.

This session describes a simple yet accurate consumption model for servers that makes use of hardware performance counters and publicly available experimental measurements. The model relates processor utilization, disk activity, and system configuration into real-time predictions of the power consumption.
